A Psychologist is licensed by the College of Psychologists of Ontario. They provide psychotherapy and diagnose mental health conditions. A Psychologist has a masters or doctoral degree in Psychology.

Some Psychologists have the term "supervised practice" after their title. This means that they are a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and are completing their final year of supervised practice before becoming an autonomous Psychologist. Their clinical services are provided under, and covered by, the license of their supervising psychologist.


Psychotherapist

Psychotherapists are licensed by one of the following regulatory colleges in Ontario: the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), the Ontario College of Nurses, or the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario. Psychotherapists have advanced training in mental health treatment and provide psychotherapy.

Dr. Nicole Law is a Neuropsychologist working with children and teens at our Burlington and St. Catharines offices.

Areas of Practice

Dr. Law provides neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessment for kids and teens with various conditions, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain tumors, epilepsy, learning disabilities, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Training & Experience

She completed her Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Toronto. She recently completed a 2 year post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology, receiving the bulk of her training within the Epilepsy Surgery Program and the Division of Haematology/Oncology at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). A core component of her fellowship included completing multiple research projects investigating pediatric brain and behaviour relations in disease models (i.e. epilepsy, brain tumors). She is current a Staff Psychologist with the Halton Catholic School Board.

Karen Walters is a Social Worker, Psychotherapist, licensed by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She provides psychotherapy to teens (12+) and adults at our St. Catharines office and online.

Karen has over 10 years of experience providing programming to adults and teens in the areas of education, mental health, and healthcare. She has worked for over 5 years in clinical hospital environments. She is skilled at developing a warm, empathic, trusting, collaborative therapeutic relationship with clients and works from an anti-oppressive stance. Her therapeutic work incorporates aspects of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness.

Karen completed her Masters of Social Work degree at Laurier University. As part of her masters degree, she completed her clinical practicum internship with youth and adolescents with mental health concerns, behavioural concerns, She has also completed training in education and obtained her Canadian Teacher Secondary Program Certificate in 2003. Jackie Iwanski is a Social Worker, Psychotherapist providing psychotherapy to teens (13+) and adults at our St. Catharines office and online. ###Areas of Practice Jackie’s primary areas of practice pertain to anxiety, depression, parenting support, social skills training, behavioural issues, and stress management.

In addition to working with teens and young adults, Jackie provides strategies and support to parents and families who are looking to learn ways to support their child’s mental health needs and behaviours.

She uses a variety of therapy approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectic behaviour therapy (DBT) skills training, emotion coaching, and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT).

Jackie is dedicated to challenging her clients to lean into discomfort and equipping them with the necessary skills to create meaningful change in their lives. No two individuals are alike. Jackie strives to tailor your work together to address the challenges that are unique to you. Jeffrey Sica is a Registered Psychotherapist working with teens and adults at our St. Catharines office.

Jeffrey provides treatment and support to teens and adults presenting with complex mental health conditions, addictions, gender identity concerns, depression, and anxiety.

In therapeutic delivery, Jeffrey has led clinical teams in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and provides evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma, as well as others.

Jeffrey currently provides clinical supervision for Qualifying Registered Psychotherapists and Masters students as well as teaching workshops in DBT, CPT and other evidence-based therapies.

Jeffrey Sica has been in the field of mental health and addictions for the past 20 years.

A Registered Psychotherapist since 2015, Jeffrey has completed a Masters of Science in Psychology in 2019 focusing on researching experiences of youth in the Niagara region with the intention of improving services available and addressing gaps in existing supports. In addition to working at Brookside Psychologists, Mr. Sica is a Program Manager at Quest Community Health Center overseeing primary health care and interdisciplinary teams and previously was a Director of Youth and Family Services at Community Addiction Services of Niagara (CASON). He also previously worked at the Niagara Health System’s New Port Center and as a case manager at the Brain Injury Community Re-entry in St. Catharines.

He has completed the Non-Profit Leadership Development certification program through Goodman School of Business & Brock University in 2018.

Lee-Anne Gray, Psy.D. is a psychologist, educator, and author licensed in California since 2004, and licensed by the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She is certified in EMDR, a trauma treatment, as well as a national speaker in self-compassion, mindful awareness, LGBTQ+ youth, gender, sexuality, trauma, assessment, special education, and gifted individuals. Dr. Gray is formerly a professor at UCLA. She was a forensic expert for the Public Defender of Orange County, California and conducted evaluations of incarcerated LGBTQ+ youth. Dr. Christina Gojmerac is a Neuropsychologist working with adults and seniors at our Burlington office.

Dr. Gojmerac’s clinical and research interests are in aging, cognition, and mental health. Her primary areas of practice include neurocognitive assessment and cognitive rehabilitation of adults and seniors. She has experience with a broad range of clients, including those with neurological conditions (e.g., acquired brain injury, dementia, stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis) and those with psychiatric conditions (e.g., depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia).

Training & Experience

Dr. Gojmerac obtained her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Toronto. In addition to providing clinical supervision and clinical services at our practice, she works full-time as a Neuropsychologist at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton in the Seniors Mental Health Program and the Clinical Neuropsychology Service. She also holds an appointment of Assistant Professor in the Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences Department at McMaster University. Her previous clinical positions have include both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral psychology positions at Baycrest Health Sciences.
